If you’ve a sweet tooth for a tasty sweetcation, the world’s first sweet-themed Airbnb has just opened in Daylesford.

Check into the Sweet Retreat and you’ll be treated to some delicious eye candy and super comfy surrounds; guests can sleep in a room that comes with a personal pink ball pit, sniff cherry-scented wallpaper (Elton John has the banana version in his own home) and relax in a room decorated with giant Iced Vovo’s.

When the creators of Sugar Republic, Australia’s immersive candy museum, found themselves unable to open their event in 2020 their creative team decided to makeover a sweet cottage that is now taking bookings for weekend escapes and sweetcations.

Creative Director and owner Allison Jones comments: “ People loved visiting Sugar Republic and now they can experience the same sense of fun, colour and retro-sweet memories whilst staying in picturesque Daylesford. The Sweet Retreat is all of this combined with a super comfy, charming and amenity-filled cottage – it’s the perfect weekend away for some sweet romance, a group of girlfriends or a fun family experience.”

Situated a few minutes’ walk from the main street, what appears from the street to be a petite miner’s cottage with a striking pink door opens out into a surprising two-story space overlooking trees and garden, with four large bedrooms, two bathrooms and extensive indoor/outdoor living. Every room is decorated in Sugar Republic’s signature style, with candy-themed art, neon lights and a peachy colour palette that makes the most of the soft light that fills the home throughout the day.

The Sweet Retreat will take you back to your childhood with lollies, retro board games, books and DVDs on tap to entertain you whatever your age. Yet it’s also fully high-tech, equipped with Alexa voice control, Sonos speakers, wifi and Apple TV.

The downstairs Sweet Love suite is the perfect room for lovers, with a huge bed, private patio, ensuite ‘disco’ bathroom and a glam living area for cocktail soirées. But there is much to love for families and groups of friends throughout the house, as most of the beds can be set up as singles or king beds.

Guests can now combine the best of a Daylesford getaway – forest air, artisan food and coffee, country vibes, markets, spas and art – with a stay in a unique home that’s truly sweeter than others!

PS Each guest also receives a special sweet-filled welcome box and in-house baking is encouraged!
