CHOICE have compared 49 kids’ cereals, including offerings from Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Freedom, and more to discover some of the worst kids breakfast cereals on the market.
With Sanitarium Weet-Bix Little Kids Essentials being voted the BEST cereal on the market by CHOICE these other ones certainly leave a lot to be desired.
Worst breakfast cereals
CHOICE say these four cereal options contain more than an estimated 35% added sugar, have a Health Star Rating of two or less, and have some form of marketing incentive to get kids pestering parents for them.
If you want to provide a healthier breakfast, then these products below are not for you. (or your children!)
- Goldenvale Cookies & Crème Pillows – 38% sugar
- Goldenvale Choco Rice – 35 % sugar
- Kellogg’s Froot Loops – 39% sugar
- Kellogg’s Frosties – 40% sugar

CHOICE added that most kids’ cereals are better than no breakfast at all, and the vitamins and minerals as well as the protein and good-for-your-bones calcium from the milk are an added bonus.
“Unhealthy options are twice as [many] as healthy alternatives, making it harder for parents to put healthy food items into their shopping basket.”
