Distinguished winemakers from the Grampians and Pyrenees will gather in Ballarat on Saturday 30th July as the city plays host to The Red Series, a showcasing of the finest wines from Western Victoria.
Held at the historic Ballarat Mining Exchange, wine-lovers can discover the rich history of winemaking across the two regions, sample some of their best drops and take home a bottle or two to enjoy in their own time.
With two sessions hosted across the day, from 11:30am-2:30pm and 3:30pm-6:30pm, The Red Series embraces the cooler months by spotlighting bolder wine varietals known for their full-bodied style and spicy, fruity flavours that warm the palette.
Twenty-two of the best cellar doors will be on show; from the Grampians, wineries include Mount Langhi Ghiran famous for their cool climate Shiraz, Fallen Giants who last year won the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for Best Young Red and Best’s Wines, home to some of the oldest vines in Australia. Hailing from the Pyrenees will be Blue Pyrenees Estate, Bigibila and DogRock Winery, among others.
Marc Sleeman, CEO Grampians Tourism said, “We’re very proud of the many fantastic winemakers from the Grampians and we’re delighted to be able to bring them together with fellow winemakers from one of our neighboring regions to shine a spotlight on Western Victoria and the world-class wines that it produces.”
In addition to the wines, eventgoers will be treated to Vegas & Rose cheese and produce boxes, J&M catering gourmet pies and live music.
Located just a two-minute walk from the Ballarat Train Station, the Ballarat Mining Exchange will provide a warm escape from the outside chill.
Early bird tickets are $45 per adult and include entry, tastings, a souvenir glass and bottle bag (includes space for 6 wine bottles). If not sold out, tickets at the door will be available for $50 per adult.
